Three weddings and a funeral

2 Comments // Posted on the 16th Sep 2007 in Current Projects, Interweb

Over the past couple of weeks I have been busy designing some juicy new websites. A couple? Three to be honest. And as the title suggests, there is also one funeral, namely my own site. But, fear not, it is being replaced by something much better. Of course, I’d love to hear some feedback…

I just finished a very modern site for KV Lichtreklame. This company describes itself as an ‘advertising-production-company’ that mainly focuses on creating neon signs and sticky letters.
Of course they also sell advertising boards, flags, full-colour posters and, my personal favourite, those branded pens that we all have come to love and hate. Really, if there is something that can be used to market your products, they probably have it.

Anyway, I realigned their site, pepping up the layout for usability and style. And all of that is powered by a fully dynamic database. Right now, they are adding their products to the site, something that required a third party earlier.

If you haven’t checked out the site, yet, do it now, and tell me what you think.

Diana Thijssen is a local artist who demanded a minimalist, monochrome site that would make her own work ‘pop out’ of the screen. Well, it does, and that not only my work: In fact a computer screen might not give justice to the bright colours and fluent shapes that she uses.

This page is completely administered using Textpattern. Some of you might have seen my tutorial on how to create easy image galleries in Textpattern, which I originally developed for this site.
Again, some sections of this site are still being edited, but that doesn’t hinder you from looking at the artwork. Pay dianathijssen.com a visit.

I am sure that many of you might have the same problem: You keep redesigning your own site, while outsiders say that it is not really necessary.

Well, here we go again. I have been busy creating mockups for the new version of Squawk, a version that I will officially call the ‘Doodle-Bush-Edition’.

It uses just a little bit more colour that the current design (not that there is much in the current one) and I think that it looks just awesome. At the moment I am busy coding up the templates, so that I can feed them to Expression Engine as soon as possible. Until that time, enjoy the wait…

Oh, and for those interested: As soon as the new layout is live and burning, I will post a ‘Behind the scenes’ blog post to show how exactly the design developed.

Greetings, I will go back now to fight SIFR and multiple instances of IE…

I’m really looking forward to the unveiling of the new design, and the post about the steps you went through. The current one looks very good, but from just that little clip of the new one, I can’t wait to see it! :D
