Blackletter black sheep

It is time again to upload a page from my sketchbook. I withheld this particular one for a while as I thought that it might be used somewhere else… it wasn’t… so here it is:

The Blackletter Black Sheep: (In)proper capitalisation makes you lonely

Blackletter black sheep

The typographers out there probably already know this, but the story goes as follows: In 1936 the type-designer Fredric Goudy received a certificate for excellence in type design. After having glanced at it, he remarked that the person who designed this certificate would probably also steal sheep. The reason for this assault was that the type was set in all-caps Blackletter, which not only looks ridiculous but is also incredibly illegible.

    Interesting story
Never heard that insult before :P

I like your sketches, is it a scan or do you finish them up in Ai/Ps

Maksim: I drew the sheep by hand with a black pen and coloured it with some felt-tip pens. The white area is mainly Tipex. There was a bit of Photoshop brushing up (levels, colour, etc.), but otherwise it is hand drawn.

Bytheway, I had a look at your deviantArt: I really like “Please find me”.

Oh thank you! that means a lot to me.  I wish I’d get inspired more often to make more ‘self expression’ :D
